Bring a sense of wonder and curiosity; leave with a better understanding of mosaic art and the joy of creating a unique sampler piece to call your own.
MOSAIC BASICS $58 plus a $20 materials fee
* Students will have the opportunity to create a 4″ x 6″ mirror sampler.
* Students will experience the process of grouting and learn how to provide a mosaic with it’s finishing touches.
* Students will learn about the appropriate substrates/surfaces for interior mosaics and the recommended adhesives.
* Students will be introduced to glass cutting and grinding, and will practice several methods for creating their own tesserae from sheet glass, dishes and found objects.
* Each student will leave class with valuable written resources outlining the various method covered in class, as well as where to find incredible supplies both locally and on-line.
* Mosaic Basic classes are held in my Corvallis studio and include a tour of the architectural mosaics incorporated within our home as well as current projects.

EXTERIOR MOSAICS $58 plus a $20 materials fee
* Students will learn four methods for creating mosaics that will withstand the exterior weather conditions of our ever changing Oregon climate:
1) Direct applications of applying tesserae into thinset with polymer additives
2) Direct glass on glass application using silicone/Lexel
3) Mesh applications
4) Mosaic Mounting Tape
* Students will create a 4 x 6 ” sampler of the glass on glass technique
* Each student will receive written resources with descriptions of the methods covered in class as well as appropriate resources for locating exterior supplies both locally and on-line.
* Students are encouraged to bring questions and site photos to present to the class if they have a specific exterior project in mind.
