The Mosaic Collaborations for Downtown Trash Receptacles Project received unanimous approval from the Corvallis City Council. 18 mosaic inserts will be installed upon five trash receptacles on 4th Street and 13 trash receptacles for 3rd Street in June of 2013 weather permitting.

The primary intent of this project will be to enliven the downtown area with vibrant glass mosaics while offering a variety of opportunities for community participation and creative enrichment. Emphasis will be on place making, enabling citizens to feel a vested interest in the well-being of their community while also encouraging traffic calming and tourism among visitors who travel through our beautiful downtown area on Highway 20.

Fundraising for this project is actively happening! Each insert will cost $250 for a project total of $4500. $4101 has been raised to date. Appropriate participation venues provide an opportunity for a few people to approach the table at a time to add tesserae to the mosaics. After each person has had a turn, the next few step forward and so on until everyone has had the chance to participate in the JOY-FEST!
